Dear All,
(End of Season Schedule at end so please read through)
First of all thank you all for attending the AFC Waverton Jets U9s presentation and end of season celebration and a huge thank you to Mark and Lisa Friend for hosting and providing all the refreshments at the Bistro Pierre, Liverpool for what was a very enjoyable evening. I would also like to thank Hall Livesey & Brown (Barbara) for kindly sponsoring the trophies this year.
As promised Claire has kindly typed up the testimonials for each of the player awards presented.
Top Scorer - Jack Harding
Jack is someone who has grown in strength and confidence on the ball. After a clear definition of what composure meant, by Lee Burke, he really started to take things in his stride. As with all good strikers it is all about being in the right place at the right time, just ask Torres. Top scorer for 2010/2011 presented to Jack Harding.
Ball Skills - James Abraham
This award recognises someone who has developed in a specific area of his game. This individual has created a new meaning to the phrase run rings around your opposition. He has foxed them all, not once but several times with tricks that made Mad Harry even Madder.
Award for outstanding ball skills presented to James Abraham
Team Player - James Buchanan
This award went to someone who has played where ever asked without complaint. Scored when requested, without complaint. Held his position without being told to, so for me (Carl Roberts) that is what makes a real team player. This prestigious award went to James Buchannon.
Captains Player - Jacob Jones
This was presented on behalf of Waverton Jets Captain Adam Roberts. This award went to someone who always give his all with a work rate that any PE teacher would be proud of. Adams Captains choice went to Jacob Jones
Technically Aware - Max Dunbavand
To be a good footballer you need to understand the game and sometimes it is not all about having the ball at your feet or scoring a goal. It is more often about being in the right position knowing what to do or what might happen next. Being technically aware is all these things and I guess having two sports mad older brothers with a passion for the game and a father who is a Doctor helps. The most technically aware player of 2010/2011 was Max Dunbavand.
Play Maker - Ali Roberts
I can honestly say that this individual has been one of the biggest shockers for me. Showing a whole new lease of determination in all his play and definitely a real head on the game. He has created opportunity for others in the distribution of the ball and changed the pace of the game with his infamous back drag. Every team needs one.
the play maker award went to Ali 'Gok' Roberts.
Parents Player - Louis Friend
A number of contenders but a clear favourite of a passionate group of coffee drinking followers. His consistent performance in defence, timely tackled and ball distribution of which has been clearly noticeable by all. Someone who has grown in confidence. A fully endorsed parents player choice went to Louis Friend.
Players Player - Charlie Rackham
Nominated by all players and without a doubt a clear players favourite, being someone that all have relied on throughout the season time and time again. Thorough very little communication has created a defence partnership that any premiership manager would be proud of. Not forgetting that when needed he could produce a free kick that even Victoria 'posh' Beckham would be proud of. Players player goes to Charlie Rackham.
Managers Player - Adam Roberts
I can honestly say and be quoted in saying that "This individual has changed my life" and should he go on to be England's Number 1 then the credit will be all mine. This individual has delivered on every occasion, showing bravery and agility when it really mattered. I think you will all agree this award is truly deserved and continually binds him to the club till he is 18. Huge congratulations went to Adam Roberts.
Braveheart award - Hannah Thorley
What can I say, this award goes to an individual who has demonstrated that they can compete with the biggest, the widest and the best of them. If you haven't guessed already this individual rocked the title chasers with a superb equaliser that gave a new definition to the word composure. A true Braveheart, Hannah Thorley.
Congratulations to all and a big thank you to all parents and supporters for all the off pitch support and refreshments during the season.
